JAMIE FOBERT ARCHITECTS
Established in 1996, Jamie Fobert Architects has consistently produced innovative and inspiring architecture in projects ranging from individual houses to high quality retail and significant public buildings for the arts. Through careful focus and bold invention, we are able to resolve client ambitions and site complexities into a tactile architecture of volume, material and light.
We have developed a very careful language of form and materiality that responds with great specificity to every project and its place, whether it is a family farmhouse in rural Ireland or a new luxury department store inside an historic fondaco in Venice. We make architecture that is built with and around light, driven by functionality, ease of use, and the sociability that architecture can foster. Through intense and careful consideration of these issues, we are able to arrive at an architecture of practicality and beauty.
In 2018, Tate St Ives won the accolade of Art Fund Museum of the Year, and was shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize. Our residential projects have garnered many awards, including the RIBA and English Heritage ‘Award for a building in an historic context’ and the BD Individual House Architect of the Year Award. Since first winning the Manser Medal (now the RIBA House of the Year Award) in 2003, the practice has been shortlisted for this coveted award a further three times.
Current projects include private houses in London and Dublin, retail design for Selfridges and a major reconfiguration of the National Portrait Gallery.
